If Life Gives You Lemonade – It’s Not a Reason to Lose Weight

Lemonade Diet… is it an inspiring solution for warm days or another way to earn gastritis in your attempts to lose weight? We figured out whether the Neera Diet is truly associated with Ayurvedic nutrition, what you can use to replace the expensive components of a special syrup, and, most importantly, what you should expect when deciding to lose weight in such an exotic way.

Few people will give up a refreshing cup of lemonade, but what if the beverage of natural tree syrup and citrus juice will become your main nutrition?

The prototype of the popular Neera diet was invented by the American Stanley Burroughs, addicted to non-traditional practices of healing and prolonging life. In the first third of the last century, Burroughs tried forces of color therapy and Ayurveda, and in 1940 he published the Master Cleanser Diet Plan, in which he was the first to propose a revolutionary method of a “delicious” fasting for weight loss.

“Master cleanser” proposed to replace all food with tea or lemonade and lose weight at a record large number of pounds in a record low number of days. This “diet” quickly gained popularity. While slimming tea was not particularly interesting to the public, the special slimming lemonade was much more intriguing.

To make the special drink, Burroughs offered to take ordinary ingredients from the supermarket:

  • maple syrup,
  • lemons,
  • limes,
  • grapefruit,
  • hot peppers.

“Master cleanser” promised the same things that any other weight loss means promise:

  • fat burning,
  • cleansing off toxins,
  • skin and hair improvement,
  • good mood,
  • rejuvenation.

Despite the fact that the lemonade diet, which is the grandmother of juicing and other drinking weight loss diets, also received strong criticism from nutrition experts, the fans of home weight loss recipes accepted it graciously.

The recipe of the slimming drink by Burroughs was passed from hand to hand, until in the 80-ies of the last century the Swiss company Madal Bal bought the rights for his books and improved Burroughs’ artisanal recipe, releasing a special concentrate for the production of detox lemonade, which was named by the manufacturer’s name.

Its composition, in addition to maple syrup, included the syrup of five tropical palms.

The legend of the product gave the name to Neera diet. As claimed by the promotional materials from Madal Bal, palm syrups in India are called “neera” and are ascribed a variety of prophylactic and treating effects.

A pint of Madal Bal will be enough for 25 servings of the “wonderful drink”, which you should make, using the following guidelines.

  • 2 tablespoons (20 mL) of tree syrup by Madal Bal;
  • 2 tablespoons (20 mL) of fresh citrus (lemon, lime, grapefruit) juice;
  • pinch of ground cayenne pepper;

All ingredients are mixed with 300 ml of water of any temperature.

During a day of Neera diet, you should consume one to twelve glasses of this lemonade, depending on the chosen detox variant.

There are several different variants for the duration of the lemonade detox diet for weight loss.

7-10 days – Full diet.

For this period, you should:

  • Refrain from food
  • At the first signs of famine, consume lemonade from concentrate, juice and pepper
  • You are also allowed to drink plain water.

3-5 days – Shortened diet.

The same rules, but for a shorter period.

Once a week – fasting day on Neera.

Every week, you should choose one special day, during which you:

  • Eat nothing
  • Only drink slimming lemonade and plain water.

In the remaining days, you continue with your usual nutrition.

Spanish version.

This one-month variant recommends replacing breakfast or dinner (not both meals!) with two or three glasses of lemonade with Madal Bal syrup.

To lose weight effectively while on the Spanish version of Neera diet, you should give up:

  • bread,
  • alcohol,
  • salt,
  • semi-finished products,
  • fried foods,
  • coffee,
  • sweets,
  • dairy products,
  • red meat.

Eat and lose weight. Duration – 3 months.

This a version of a popular diet for the lazy, which suggests drinking syrup instead of water. Three times a day, half an hour before a meal, you should drink 300 ml of the slimming lemonade, and replace one of the meals during the day with this very same lemonade.

The hour of triumph for the Neera Diet was the confession of Beyonce. Having played the title role in the musical “Dreamgirls” (2006) with a triumph, the gracefully shaped beauty announced that she owes her beautiful shape to the lemonade diet.

According to the singer, she got rid of extra 9 kg in 10 days, replacing all the meals with the cocktail of Madal Bal syrup, lemon juice and pepper. The list of Neera fans was enlarged by such famous lovers of fashionable dietary trends, like Demi Moore, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna.

However, the popularity of the lemonade diet went into decline quite soon. Naturally, it became clear that consumption of syrup instead of food has sufficient limitations and contraindications.

These include:

  • fast weight loss while on Neera diet is fraught with the traditional side effect, which is the fast weight regain;
  • despite sellers allegations, refusal of food in favor of even the most useful and natural lemonade can not be considered a completely safe weight loss method.
  • Just like any other kind of fasting or strict diet! Risks abound from the violation of gastrointestinal functions to the exacerbation of chronic diseases.

The syrup and the juice do not dissolve the fat, because there is no weight loss means in the world, which would be able to make the fat deposits simply melt!

Weight loss on the lemonade diet results from the excretion of extra fluid and digestive masses, as well as breakdown of muscle fibers (when you choose a Neera diet version without food).

You may also see your weight reducing as a reward for reducing your portions and eating nothing fried, salted, or floury.

You can achieve the same result by drinking plain water shortly before a meal, if other serving-control methods do not help.

And, of course, you don’t necessarily have to pay for the syrup, just to “exclude” all junk food from your menu.

Sweet tree syrup, citrus juice, and a hot spice is an aggressive combination of ingredients! Syrup, despite a certain percentage of natural vitamins and minerals, consists mainly of sugars.

Thus, it increases blood glucose levels. So, after it gives you a short-term false satiety, it fuels your appetite in a short time. Juice and pepper further injure your gastrointestinal tract.

Slimming lemonade was developed based on the tradition of Ayurvedic nutrition and is advertised in the context of the values of this ancient Indian teaching. However, Ayurveda is, first of all, a difficult spiritual practice with its own laws.

In such cases, people should not always count that they will be able to turn some portion of the exotic culture towards the benefit of their mundane goals.

Ayurveda adherents are slim and pacified not only because of something special they eat and drink.

Stray idea: weight loss with something sour and something sweet

Lemonade by the original recipe of Stanley Burroughs or with Madal Bal concentrate has many inverse images.

For example:

Starting from the last century, British aristocrats lose weight regain health by using Honeygar, which is a mix of apple cider vinegar and honey.

Honeygar, as well as the Swiss syrup is sold as a finished product, and does not come cheap, though its components can be found in any kitchen.

The idea of drinking special cleansing drinks on an empty stomach is well-known to fans of traditional medicine all around the world with one important caveat – drink such “lemonades” strongly in the morning.

It is believed that water with apple cider vinegar or lemon juice has a positive effect on the metabolism, indirectly helping in the fight against excess weight. In the morning, your body actively removes excess acid, and products like naturally fermented vinegar or sour-bitter citrus digested in the stomach, give an alkaline reaction.

  • This helps support the liver in its beneficial activity of enzymes generation.

Honey, as a source of natural sugars-carbohydrates, in such a drink, firstly, softens its specific taste, and secondly, provides nutritional properties, satisfying the first appetite and preventing overeating.

Lemonade by Stanley Burroughs and his “successor in title” Madal Bal Syrup can play a positive role in weight loss progress, but as a secondary rather than primary means.

Those who do not suffer from any chronic diseases, are not expecting a baby or breastfeeding, can drink such cocktail with lemon juice and honey or syrup in the morning before breakfast, and no more than once a day.

Drinking several liters of slimming lemonade instead of food during the day, alas, does not help useful substances accumulate and act more effectively. Your doctor will surely confirm it, when you address to him for advice before you use the exotic Neera diet.
